Tendonitis – Chiropractic wrist tendonitis is frequently experienced by a sharp, stabbing pain. Tendonitis is the swelling of a tendon and it can occur in any joint in the body.
Peripheral Nerve Entrapment – is known as pinched nerves, this is when the nerves become impinged or entrapped by surrounding tissues, like the bones, muscles, tendons, or cartilages.
Pronator Syndrome – is known as peripheral entrapment neuropathy that happens when the median nerves of the arms become compressed between the muscles of the forearms. Sometimes this disorder may be mistaken for the carpal tunnel syndrome, that involves the same median nerves, but with the compression of the wrist rather than the elbow. There is often prolonged gripping or twisting in working in the field of construction equipment and it can lead to this severe medical condition.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is when pressure is on the nerves of the fingers and it can cause the ring finger or the Pinky finger to become inflamed, weak, painful, or clumsy. Pain, numbness, and tingling caused in the two fingers are the symptoms of Cubital tunnel syndrome as well. It affects the two fingers where the nerves get compressed by small bony bumps.

Chiropractic care is a type of alternative medicine which focuses on diagnosing mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and treating them. This particularly applies to the spine but can also be used to correct issues in other areas of the body as well. It is believed that these types of disorders can affect overall health via the nervous system. Chiropractic is the largest branch of the alternative medical field. Chiropractc techniques involve manual therapy - particularly manipulation of the spine, joints, and soft tissues.
Tendonitis of the wrist is a condition in which inflammation and irritation of the tendons surrounding the wrist joints occurs. It usually affects only one of the tendons but could possibly affect two or more. Many times wrist tendonitis occurs at the points where the tendons cross over one another or where they pass over protruding bones. Tendon sheaths called tenosynovium assist the tendons with sliding smoothly with very little friction. When the tendon sheath becomes thick and constricted, causing wrist movement to become painful, tendonitis occurs.
Wrist tendonitis can be effectively treated via chiropractic means. A chiropractor will first make a diagnosis to make certain that tendonitis is indeed the issue. The chiropractor will then decide on the treatment plan which will most effectively relieve the actual cause of the tendonitis instead of just treating the symptoms. The initial treatment may be to protect and support the damaged tendons by bracing the area of the wrist where the pulled tendons are located. This will help to reduce the swelling and make movement a bit easier. Further treatments may include ice, temporary immobilization, ultrasound, strengthening exercises, electrical muscle stimulation, physical therapy, and/or joint manipulation. Given the right treatment, inflammation and pain in the tendon should decrease significantly within 3 weeks. Complete healing with chiropractic care can take as long as 6 weeks.
Some people perform wrist self-adjustments by basically "popping" their wrist in an attempt to set it back into place. This is generally not a good idea, as it can cause significantly more damage to the tendons and other areas of the wrist.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a condition that affects the hand and arm which causes tingling, numbness, and other symptoms. It is caused by a pinched nerve in the wrist. Several things can cause carpal tunnel syndrome, such as patterned and repeated types of hand movements, wrist anatomy, and certain underlying health issues. The carpal tunnel itself is a narrow, tunnel-like passageway surrounded and protected by ligaments and bones. It is located on the underside (palm side) of the wrist. The carpal tunnel protects the central nerve in the hand as well as the nine tendons which bend the fingers. Nerve compression causes the tingling, numbness, and hand weakness which are the characteristics of carpal tunnel syndrome.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can be effectively treated by manipulation and adjustment of the arm, upper spine, and wrist. Treatments may also include cold compresses, specialized exercises, and/or the use of a brace or splint.
At Anaheim Chiropractic the most effective and innovative techniques are used on a case-by-case basis to correct the underlying cause of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome so that the symptoms are alleviated and the patient can enjoy full, painless use of the arm, wrist, and hand once more.
